Raspberry Pi Workshop

Our Raspberry Pi workshop with Copper LUG is this Saturday (Sept 1, 2018) from 11:00 to 4:00 in BYENG 209. We’ll start by walking through how to boot a Pi for the first time, and then break up into small groups with different goals.

What you should bring

If you have a Raspberry Pi:

  • Your Raspberry Pi (obviously)
  • Strongly recommended if you don’t have an OS installed on your Pi yet: an SD card with Raspbian (or similar) already loaded onto it
  • Power strip
  • 5V microUSB power supply, capable of at least 700 mA output (1A preferred)
  • Monitor
  • HDMI cable
  • Keyboard
  • Mouse
  • USB hub, if you want to have more than just the keyboard and mouse plugged in
  • Controller(s), if you’ll be setting up RetroPie

If you don’t have a Raspberry Pi and just want to SSH into one provided by us:

  • Laptop
  • Laptop power cable
  • Any laptop accessories you want (e.g. mouse)

Planned small groups

  • Setting up NAS
  • Chromecast clone
  • Cluster
  • SSH practice
  • RetroPie (bring controllers!)
  • Alexa clone
  • Touchscreen Pi

See you there!
